Scuba Diving at the Utila Lodge
Seven scuba divers joined Go Deep Scuba for a great week of adventure exploring the World’s 2nd largest coral reef the week of April 7, 2018. We stayed at the Utila Lodge, logging 17 dives in 5 days that included 2 “night” dives.
We enjoyed swimming with several Spotted Eagle Rays, Turtles, Barracuda, Drum Fish, Green Moray Eels, and several species of Parrot Fish, just to name a few. We even rode bicycles 95 feet under the surface checking out the Halliburton 211 wreck.
The diving was excellent, in part, because we had an excellent Dive Master, Chris, and Boat Captain, Albert. The Lodge was very comfortable. Three meals per day were preceded by the ringing of a dinner bell–removing any doubt as to when it was time to eat. The Utila Lodge only has eight rooms, making it an ideal place to spend time with Go Deep Scuba friends.
The Dive Boat was always Prepared
One day we were just arriving at our dive site, when I remembered my wetsuit, fins and mask were back at the Lodge. Dang, I forgot to bring them on the boat! While Chris and Albert always brought our BCs and regulators, we are responsible for our other gear. I had no one to blame except myself.
However, it all worked out because the boat had an extra set of fins and a mask! I used a borrowed long-sleeve shirt from a fellow diver and we all enjoyed another 2-tank scuba diving adventure. Having the equipment on board their vessel is a testimony to the Utila Lodge resort. The customer service on land, on and under the ocean, was outstanding.
Email me if you have any questions about Utila or the Utila Lodge. I will give you information based on my two visits.
